We are delighted to mark a major new milestone at our St James’ Park development, as construction for The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s new campus officially began.
To celebrate the milestone, a ground-breaking ceremony was held and attended by a number of important stakeholders, including members of the secondary school’s leadership team, Head Teacher, Dale Reeve, Chairman of Governors, Alan Fordham, his predecessor Rodney Stock, as well as a number of parents and teachers.
Members of the Hertfordshire County Council also joined the event, namely Leader of the Council, Councillor Richard Roberts, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Terry Douris, Hertfordshire County Councillor for Bishop’s Stortford Rural, Councillor Graham McAndrew, and Mayor of Bishop’s Stortford, Councillor Keith Warnell.
At Countryside, we understand the value of education, which is why we are proud to help deliver a state-of-the-art school campus as part of this mixed-use development. The new site will also include a caretaker’s house, car parking, coach bays as well as cycle storage. A key component of the development’s master plan, the new campus for The Bishop’s Stortford High School is set to open its doors and welcome students in January 2023.
Committed to providing students with a fantastic learning environment and Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’, The Bishop’s Stortford High School is set to benefit the wider local community, not only expanding its pupil capacity intake from 156 to 180 pupils a year, but also through the provision of providing brand-new facilities, including a sports hall, conference centre, games pitches, a multi-use games area and high-quality teaching spaces.
Surrounded by expansive green space, once complete, St James’ Park will provide 750 new homes, home to The Bishop’s Stortford High School’s new campus, a new primary school which will also include early years facilities, a care home, employment space and a local centre with shopping facilities.
